Perlite is 100% natural siliceous volcanic mineral (amorphous Volcanic glass), formed by the sudden cooling and solidification of volcanic ash, which traps crystalline water into its mass. Expanded perlite is a lightweight soil conditioner, loosens clay soil, reduces caking, improves drainage and aeration. Blend with peat moss and perlite for custom soilless mix. Can be used to start seeds, propagate cuttings and store bulbs.
In the construction and manufacturing fields, it is used in lightweight plasters, concrete and mortar (masonry), insulation and ceiling tiles.
The expanded perlite is one kind of white granule with Honeycomb structure inside and it is produced when Perlite ore Preheated and Instantaneous high Temperature roasted.The Principle is that expanded perlite is crushed by the ore, dealed with the rapid heating (1000°C above).After the moisture vaporization ores and minerals in the particles soften internal expansion, the formation of porous structure, expansion to the original 10-30 times. Perlite is a volcanic glass (Volcanic mines are almost never a source of asbestos), and asbestos is a fibrous form of a mineral. They are not normally found together in nature.
